Dear Friends,
On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 and within less than one minute, a deadly earthquake with magnitude scale of 7, ended the world for tens of thousands of Haitians, and left many other hundreds of thousands homeless. The scope of the tragedy that shook this poor county is almost incomprehensible and Haitians as well as the rest of the world are now wondering how to deal with the consequences of this catastrophic event.
Child Foundation, consistent with its policy of helping children around the world is teaming up with Mercy Corps and other organizations to collect aid for the most vulnerable part of Haiti’s society- the children. Mercy Corps is a well-known international organization with many years of experience working with communities to shelter and nurture children through innovative education, health and nutrition programs. All donations collected by Child Foundation will be donated to Mercy Corps programs that help children in Haiti to deal with present realities and prepare them to become successful in their society.
There are moments like this that we as human beings must come together as a global community and help each other. Let's make sure the people of Haiti who just lost thousands of their children and parents do not face this disaster alone.
Thank you for taking action in the face of this tragedy.
Sincerely,
Masoud Modarres
Executive Manager

Mahziyar's Story
Mahziyar (Banafsheh 578) is an excellent student with a GPA of 20 out of 20 possible points. Mahziyar's father left the family eight years ago and they haven’t heard from him ever since. Mahziyar's mother has filed for a divorce and they are living in a tiny rental.
Previously, they were living in his grandparents home and his mother was working a cleaning job to provide for her family. Unfortunately, his mother has severe back problems and needed surgery. Now, she is not able to perform labor related jobs anymore. The family's only income is from a charity organization, which does not cover their basic needs.

***Norooz Bazaars***
In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Iranian New Year Celebration, or Norooz, always begins on the first day of spring. The 9th Annual Child Foundation Norooz Bazaar is a combination of traditional, cultural, social, and commercial efforts arranged and performed by Child Foundation staff, volunteers, and supporters annually in March. This is a great and unique opportunity for our children to learn more about their culture and heritage while having fun and enjoying the entertainments and friendly atmosphere provided for them. Also this is a wonderful opportunity for our local merchants to present their goods and services to several thousands of exhibitors and supporters who are visiting and ready to purchase their traditional and special items for the Eid-e-Norooz while enjoying the music, feast, fun, and altogether we are demonstrating our patronage of the Norooz. This year our Norooz Bazaars will be held on the following locations:
Saturday March 13th, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Hilton Woodland Hills located at 6360 Canoga Avenue, Woodland Hills, CA 91367. 2- Sunday March 14, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Orange County Hilton located at 18800 MacArthur Blvd., Irvine, CA 92612.
Please visit the Upcoming Events page to learn more about the Bazaars and download a vendor package.
Noorooz Party Sunday March 21
One of the most important aspects of Norooz is to think about those underprivileged people specially the innocent children who are poor and cannot provide their basic needs and this is a great moment to think about them and try to make a positive difference in their life, and that is why Child Foundation is working so hard in order to provide the basic necessities for them. This year Child Foundation has partnered with Iranian Psychological Association of America (IPAA) and organized a fundraising Norooz Celebration and Reception on Sunday March 21st. The fundraising event will be held at Regency Ballroom, in Olympic Collection.
