|Funny in Farsi (Persian Edition) by Firoozeh Dumas
Internationally famous author Firoozeh Dumas was born in Iran and moved to America when she was seven years old. She attended UC Berkley and began to write on her own, leading to her work being published by Random House. Funny in Farsi, the famous book about her trials and tribulations of being an Iranian growing up in America, was on the SF Chronicle and LA Times bestseller list.
The book has recently been translated into Firoozeh’s mother tongue, Farsi, by Mohammad Soleimani Nia. It is retitled Smell of Hyacinth, Smell of Pine which is a reference to the smell of pine during the American holiday season and hyacinth in Iran for the Nowruz celebration. Over 100,000 copies of the book were sold in Iran which is quite an accomplishment since 2,000 copies sold is considered a best seller!
