Alireza is a 13-year old student from Bam, Iran. He is studying in 6th grade and has a very good GPA.

His father was a construction planner before his heart surgery. After his surgery, his doctor banned him from doing labor intensive jobs and heavy liftings, therefore, currently he is not able to work. 

Alireza has two brothers and two sisters. His oldest sister is disabled. His other sister is a student. Alireza and his brother both suffer from Thalassemia and twice a month they need to receive blood. Since the medical support in their city is not sufficient, they have to travel more than 40 miles each time to receive blood. This travel is not only expensive but also it is very energy consuming. The family’s primary sources of income are the insufficient governmental subsidiary program and minimal charitable stipends which are not enough to cover all the expenses.

For example, although they live in Mazar Sharif which is extremely hot, they do not have access to cooling air conditioner. We are living in a home which belongs to my grandmother and we have separate rooms.
