Bicycles for Children in Afghanistan
Child Foundation sponsors children in Afghanistan in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, the fourth-largest city in the country. Good schools are few and far between and not easily accessible for many families that live on the outskirts of towns and cities given the high living costs within cities. The majority of our sponsored children walk up to 2 miles to get to school, and public transportation is not readily available in rural areas. During the Spring and Summer, temperatures reach up to 115 Fahrenheit (30 Celsius), making the walk to and from school even more challenging.
To support our children to thrive in school, Child Foundation is raising funds to purchase used bicycles for them so that they are able to get around more efficiently and safely. The cost of a used bicycle is approximately $30. A bicycle can make all the difference in the world for a child that is doing their very best to obtain an education and we are hoping to purchase at least 200 bicycles. Donate generously to support our hardworking students.
