She is as talented as her brother. The family is sponsored by a charity and receives a small monthly allowance.

Laila is eight years old and in first grade. She is from Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, and likes studying a language (Dari). Laila wants to be a teacher in the future. Her father is ill and unable to work. Her mother is now the family’s breadwinner. She works in a greenhouse in the hot season. During the cold season, when the greenhouses are closed, she cleans chickpeas with her children and husband to earn a small amount. Thankfully, they live in subsidized housing but lack essentials. Poverty prevented the three eldest children of the family from continuing their education. Her teenage brothers, for example, dropped out of fourth grade. Only Laila and her sister are still students.

Laila has hopes and dreams, but her family’s reality is difficult. She needs support to stay in school for a brighter future. After reviewing Laila’s opportunities, motivation, and needs, Child Foundation has granted her a $63/month scholarship. Become her cosponsor for a minimum of $30 per month.

Nan

Nan is 14 years old and in 8th grade. He currently lives with his parents and two siblings in Siem Reap, Cambodia. His father is a construction worker, and his mother sells groceries in the village. He has to travel 8 km to get to school every day like his friends. The same as other students that we currently have in our program, Nan’s family also needs financial support especially for his school materials, uniform, and food for his lunch break. They were affected by COVID-19 and lost a big amount of income. In his free time, Nan helps his parents with housework, feeding pigs and chickens. He sometimes cooks for his family or rides a bicycle with his friends. In the future, he wants to be a soldier.

 To best meet the needs of our Iranian students amidst US sanctions, the sponsor of this child will be a cosponsor alongside a sponsor from inside Iran to form a stable cosponsorship. Each month the child’s family will receive food from our sponsor and a small stipend from the Iran sponsor.
